Qik Dominican Digital Bank
First neobank of the Dominican Republic
Project Summary
Qik is the first fully digital bank in the Dominican Republic, operating in a highly regulated and traditionally conservative financial ecosystem. The product was designed to offer a branchless banking experience, allowing users to open accounts, access financial products, and manage their money entirely online.
The Dominican market presented significant challenges: low digital banking maturity, complex regulatory requirements, and deeply ingrained bureaucratic processes. Designing for this context required balancing usability, trust, compliance, and operational constraints.
My role and responsibility
I worked as a Product Designer with strong ownership, collaborating closely with business, development, and compliance teams. All design decisions were validated with real users before implementation, ensuring solutions were both usable and aligned with regulatory and business requirements.
Scope of work
I contributed to core banking products including credit cards, savings accounts in both local and USD currencies, and loans. I also worked on early versions of features such as service payments and a Marketplace, among other initiatives that improved the overall digital banking experience.
Awards & Recognition
Qik has received multiple national and international awards recognizing its excellence in user experience and innovation in digital banking. These accolades highlight the team’s commitment to creating products that are both user-centric and operationally robust.
